Perfect weather, wildflowers blooming, fewer crowds than summer. Bluebonny season makes for amazing photos.
Hot and humid (90Β°F+), but lake activities are perfect. Plan indoor activities during peak heat.
Mild weather, ACL Festival, beautiful fall colors in the Hill Country. Best overall season.
No free dump stations in downtown proper, but the Walmart on E 41st St is only 10-15 minutes away and completely free 24/7. It's a straight shot down I-35 and very convenient for downtown explorations.
Yes! Walmart locations, Flying J, and Love's Travel Stops are all open 24/7. However, be courteous - use your headlights and avoid making excessive noise. The north Walmart (E 41st St) is in a well-lit, safe area.
Walmart: No purchase required - completely free.
Flying J/Love's: Must be a customer (fuel up or buy something small).
RV Parks: Pay the dump fee or stay as a guest.
The Flying J on I-35 has the most space and professional-grade equipment, making it ideal for larger rigs. The north Walmart also has good access but can get crowded during peak shopping hours.
The Walmart on E 41st St is your best bet - about 15 minutes from 6th Street and Rainey Street. Street parking near venues is limited, so plan your dump station visit separately from show nights.
Most Walmart locations have potable water spigots (look for the garden center hose bibs). RV parks and travel centers also provide fresh water. Always use a filter if you're concerned about water quality.
